ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Vision Behind Chi Flo
The Chi Flo Philosophy: Light-Spirited Dark Side
Since founding her brand in February 2013, Christina, or Chi Flo Stina, has cultivated a distinct aesthetic defined by pulp-retro irony and an undercurrent of societal movement. Her work often functions as a visual equilibrium, blending seemingly unrelated symbols into a cohesive, rebellious narrative. By exaggerating the formal aspects of contemporary marketing and mass media, she creates works that act as "self-portraits" of the modern consumer experience—quirky, idiosyncratic, and occasionally awkward, reflecting our shared human vulnerabilities.
Notable Collaborations: From Fine Art to the Main Stage
CHI FLO's influence extends far beyond the studio. She has become a key figure in the indie-merchandise space, most notably through her collaboration with the indie-pop duo Matt and Kim. CHI FLO designed the official, limited-edition "Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare" souvenir jacket, a piece that has been championed by Kim Schifino on festival stages worldwide. Her portfolio also includes high-profile collaborations with renowned tattoo artists like Georgia Grey and Joice Wang, further cementing the "Chi Flo Army" as a collective of alternative culture and elite graphic design.
Today, CHI FLO continues to live and work in Jersey City, pushing the boundaries of what streetwear can be: a medium for high art, a tool for subverting rules, and a world where light-heartedness rules supreme.
